What we did: We spent our last night in New Zealand back in Auckland, this time in Ponsonby. This neighborhood is very hip, fashionable, and full of amazing food. We stayed at the Ponsonby Manor, a cute bed and breakfast right on the main road. The main street is great to walk and discover local stores and food.
Where to shop: Tatty’s Consignment Store – amazing prices on contemporary labels like Self Portrait, Isabel Marant, and even Topshop; Iko Iko – cute shop with cards, jewelry, and fun gifts for those back home; The Women’s Bookshop – an independent bookshop where you can pick up a read for the flight home.
Where to eat: Mekong Baby – Southeast Asian food, little pricey, delicious; Ponsonby Central – a market with several food, drink, and shopping vendors. So good we came here twice; Odettes Eatery – meh service but the food and ambience makes up for it. Don’t come in athleisure.
After exploring the area and taking a nap, Terry took me to Stevie Nicks at the Spark Arena! He had surprised me earlier with tickets and this was definitely a bucket list concert. She was amazing and performed songs from her own albums and Fleetwood Mac.
On our last day in New Zealand, we headed out to the high seas. Kidding – we just headed out into Auckland Harbour with Explore on an America’s Cup boat for a sailing experience. We got to try our hand at steering and being a grinder. Being on the water was such a fun experience and even the life jackets were super chic.
