When we started planning our New Zealand trip, Waiheke Island was at the top of our list for two reasons: views and vineyards. After the Coromandel, we took the 2pm ferry from Half Moon Bay in South Auckland to the island. The ferry got us there just in time to check in and head out to a handful of wineries. We only stayed a night here but really tried to maximize our time.

Mudbrick Vineyard

Where we drank: Cable Bay Vineyards, Mudbrick Vineyards – the pinot gris is the stuff of dreams and I don’t even drink whites. So good, I’m contemplating getting it shipped.

What we ate: Dragonfired Pizza – they close up shop pretty early so don’t dawdle

Where we stayed: Enclosure Bay – unreal views, fantastic service, the most comfortable bed, the nicest owners.
